Children & Young Persons should be kept at home if they are unwell as they will recover more quickly and avoid the spread of diseases further. Our staff are only trained to provide immediate first aid. If an emergency arises and it is necessary to send a child or young person to hospital, we will make contact with you as soon as we can.
In accordance with Public Health England guidelines, the following list of some of the most communicable diseases and skin infections will give you an idea of how long affected children or young person should be kept away from the Provision.
| Disease | Recommended period to be kept away from the Provision |
| Chickenpox | Five days from onset of rash. All lesions should be crusted over before child or young person returns to the provision. |
| Diarrhoea and/or vomiting | 48 hours after symptoms have stopped and the child or young person is feeling well enough to return to the provision. |
| German Measles (Rubella) | Five days from onset of rash. |
| Impetigo | Until lesions are crusted and healed, or 48 hours after commencing antibiotic treatment. |
| Measles | Four days from onset of rash. |
| Mumps | Five days after onset of swelling. |
