This policy sets out how One Nation Studios safeguards children and young people online, including when using AP setting owned devices, networks, cloud services, and when learning remotely. It applies to students, staff, volunteers, contractors, and visitors using the AP setting IT systems or personal devices on site.
The internet is used at One Nation Studios to raise educational standards, to promote student achievement, to support the professional work of staff, and to enhance One Nation Studios’ management functions. Technology is advancing rapidly and is now a huge part of everyday life, education, and business. We want to equip our students with all the necessary ICT skills that they will need to enable them to progress confidently into a professional working environment and/or further study.
Learners are encouraged to access internet resources as part of their education at One Nation Studios. We recognize that children and young people may expose themselves to danger, whether knowingly or unknowingly, when using the internet. We therefore recognize our responsibility to educate our students about appropriate behaviour when using the internet and the importance of engendering strong critical thinking skills to enable students to remain both safe and within the law when using the internet.

Using the internet to enhance learning
One Nation Studios’s internet access is designed to enhance and extend education. Staff guide students to online activities that support the learning outcomes planned for the students’ age and ability. Students also need to learn digital literacy skills and to refine their own publishing and communications with others via the Internet. Therefore:
● Staff always supervise students when they are accessing electronic devices. Students are
never left unattended with a laptop, iPad or other electronic device.
● Developing effective practice in using the internet for teaching and learning is essential.
● Students are taught what internet use is acceptable and what is not and given clear objectives
for Internet use.
● Students are educated in the effective use of the internet in research, including the skills of
knowledge location, retrieval, and evaluation.
● Strong filters are in place and reviewed regularly.
● Staff ensure that students log in to laptops, iPads and other devices via their personal student logins that are unique to each student.
● Passwords are kept in a central location in SharePoint for staff, but not students, may access.
● Any work that students complete is saved to their secure account.
● All staff receive induction and regular refreshers on online safety.
● Students are not permitted to access personal accounts, including social media accounts in school.
